Wow-za! How is it possible that I got this wild hair to write for anybody and everybody to read a whole year ago?!
Writing has always been a passion of mine. I loved writing throughout school. I remember writing stories for my own amusement, and when a teacher required a writing, there was no groaning and moaning from me! I later enjoyed trying to instill a love of writing in my young students. I remember telling my students on more than one occasion that writing can be an outlet, so to just relax and write whatever came to their minds. Writing can truly be therapeutic!
Through my writing, I have been able to share some of the awesome (and not so awesome) experiences I have had in the last year. From making homemade baby food to Christmas stocking stuffer ideas, and from our trip to the Bahamas as a couples’ vacation to small getaways with little ones, I have enjoyed getting to share with all of you!
So much happens in just a year, but I truly believe I have grown as a mother, wife, and, most importantly, a Christian. My little guy has challenged me in so many ways. I have had to learn how to be a stay-at-home mom to a toddler, which definitely has some challenges! Lets just say: poop, fits, and tiny tornado. Need I say more?!
My husband graduated college and started his career in the engineer field this last year. Between me resigning from teaching and him starting a new job, we have had to learn how to balance our new life. I mean, let’s be real, being married isn’t always easy! It takes work and effort every single day. But when your family has a bunch of new happening, I feel like it makes it even more challenging!
As a Christian, I am far from where I want to be, but I’m learning. I have become more active in my church, read His Word more regularly, work through devotionals, pray more vigilantly, and have learned to share my testimony. I would say this last year has been a turning point in my walk with God.
So much of this year has been recorded here, on Okie Mom. So for those of you who choose to read my posts, share the links with others, and encourage me to keep writing, THANK YOU! Though I don’t have a mass of readers, this last year, with something I consider “a wild hair”, has been one I have thoroughly enjoyed.
If you weren’t around for my first, and very short, post, you can check it out here: Introducing… Okie Mom!
So until next time,
