Beaver’s Bend: Our Family Trip

So I’m obviously back tracking a bit, but back in November, my little family and some close friends traveled to southeast Oklahoma. If you haven’t made it to the Beaver’s Bend area, you should definitely take the time to do so! It’s a great place to visit with plenty to offer.

In total, we had four adults and four children ranging from 18 months to 6 years. We had the privilege of staying in a great cabin that offered entertainment inside and out. Though it was slightly damaged, we had a small play-set for the kids to play on, a fire pit to roast marshmallows, and, when the kids were asleep, a hot tub for the adults to relax in. The inside had an AWESOME arcade game, a small rug with toys for the kids, board games, and a large open area for everyone to move around in. Really, we had a GREAT cabin! If you’d like to see to see the cabin, you can check it out here!

But hopefully, when you travel, you don’t plan on staying in the cabin the whole time. There are some great things to do while in Beaver’s Bend as well! Now, we visited during the fall season, so we weren’t able to do any of the water sports. I would honestly love to go back for that reason! The leaves had started to change to their fall colors though, so it was really pretty at this time of year!

There are restaurants around every corner it seems like. We ate at Abendigo’s Grill and Patio one night. Honestly, it’s not a place I would go back to. The food was decent, but we waited over an hour to get our food. When you have four kids to entertain, this is just miserable. I think my one kiddo had probably five meltdowns in the process of waiting to eat.

If you need to go on a coffee run, there are plenty of options! Okie Girls Coffee & Ice Cream offered some great coffees with a fun atmosphere. We also stopped at the Hochatown Swamp Booger Mercantile, LLC. It had decent coffee, but a really great owner! She was very friendly and eager to help me find the perfect coffee for my husband. 😉

The rest of the time, our families ate at the cabin. This is an easy way to save money, and when you have kids, save some sanity! We had a couple different breakfasts, hamburgers, hot dogs, and a sandwich picnic.

There are great hiking trails, places to go fishing, a train to ride, horseback riding, and some great places to shop and eat! Plus, I’m sure, so much more!

We chose to go for a short hike with our littles, so went to a nature trail. There are a lot of different locations to hike, but we obviously wanted to choose an easy one. It was absolutely beautiful! The leaves were falling all around us. There was water flowing alongside the trail where people were fishing. It was really nice to get out and just look at everything!

We didn’t do much in regards to tourist places aside from the Beaver’s Bend Depot and Trail Rides. We vouched to take the kiddos on a train ride. It was a little pricey if you have a large family, but it was worth it in my opinion. We didn’t see a ton of wildlife, aside from a couple deer, but it was still an enjoyable ride. (My little guy loves choo-choos, so we jump on any opportunity we can to ride one!)

Seriously, if you ever want to experience a different side of Oklahoma, you should definitely go to the Beaver’s Bend area. It is absolutely beautiful with plenty of family, or adult, entertainment. Sometimes it is so nice to take a breath of fresh air and get away from the hustle and bustle!

These are all my own personal thoughts and opinions. I will not recieve any kickbacks, nor am I in anyway connected to any of the above mentioned businesses.

So until next time,

Okie Mom
